I wrote this originally for Deism.com. They published it in the march edition of ThinkOnline.
I’ve always been a fan of science. When I was still a Christian I tried using scientific discovery to prove some of the miraculous events in the bible as plausible.Since becoming a Deist I’ve been doing something similar. That is I’m using science to show the plausibility of a Creator.
It’s not that I do not believe.I believe with every ounce of my being in a Creator. It’s that from time to time I will come in contact with atheists that are staunch in their beliefs.I do not try to force others into my belief but if questioned I’m more then happy to show why.A lot of times these atheists will fall back on science to back up there beliefs. So I do the same just as I would use the bible to prove a Christian incorrect if it was needed.
Now there are a lot of examples but one day while I was reading the latest discovery in space I had a realization. The realization had nothing to do with the article. It is something that the majority of people believe in and is, in my opinion, one of the most plausible ways to show the possible existence of a Creator. It’s the expansion of the universe.
Science has shown that the universe is expanding and that its rate of expansion is increasing. Now for something to expand it has to have space to expand in.From here we can make the conclusion that the universe is sitting in an open space. It may not be an infinite amount of space but we can assume that it is vaster then we can imagine.
So in an unimaginable amount of space could not a being, an entity, beyond our scope of reasoning exist?Would it then be that difficult to perceive that a being that existed in such a place could lay down the laws of our universe and set everything in motion? That also this being functions in ways that is beyond the scope of human existence?
It’s been a while since I last posted and I have a special one to talk about this time. Let’s talk about Adam & Eve. Great story, it’s amazing how much it parallels several ancient Persian explanations for the different seasons but that’s not what I’m here to talk about today. Let’s talk about Adam, Eve, Satan and God.
Let’s break this down step by step:
God (of the bible) supposedly created everything. He even created Lucifer the most beautiful and most bad ass of the angels. So Lucifer says to his angel buddies “Hey guys we don’t need this God dude side with me.” Now if Lucifer was as awesome as he supposedly was I’m sure he would have the intelligence not to take on his creator. BUT as the story goes he did. So what does God do? Oh he throws him down to Earth with all his buddies… Why? You created the sniveling little bastard why not kill him? Just twitch your eyelid (do you have eyelids?) and he is gone. No more problem and peace on Earth will never be disrupted. But that’s not how the story goes. The story goes that Lucifer, now called Satan, is prowling around Earth just waiting to corrupt God’s chosen creation, humans. Now I don’t know about you but if I created something that I really like I protect it.
So I’m sure God knew that Lucifer was up to this. He’s God right? So he should have known. So right then he could have stabbed his failed creation with his pinky finger and all would be good. Again he did nothing. He’s starting to sound like a lazy bastard to me, but I digress.
So Satan does his thing and convinces Adam and Eve to go against God’s will. Well what happens here. God throws a temper tantrum and says “Because you did not listen to me I’m condemning ALL humans, that I supposedly love, to death. Shame shame on you Adam and Eve it’s all your fault that you destroyed everyone’s paradise.” So let me ask you this. If I go out and kill someone will you punish all my family with the death sentence? Well that’s what God did. Is this not absurd?
